This is a Department 56 building titled Thompson’s Furniture Store from the Christmas in the City Series. It is new, unused, in the original box. The building is a new item from a closed gift store and is unused but it does appear that the chimney has been reglued (see close up photo) – otherwise good condition.

Department 56 Christmas in the City Topsy’s Toys Item #799995 Retired Lighted Building Beautiful retired Department 56 Christmas in the City collectible featuring Topsy’s Toys – Santa’s Favorite Toy Store. Introduced in 2008 and retired in 2009, making this a relatively short-production Department 56 piece. CONDITION: Appears NEW / UNUSED and never displayed. Building remains wrapped in its original protective plastic inside the original fitted Styrofoam packaging. Includes. Topsy’s Toys lighted building #799995. Original light cord. Original hanging “Topsy’s – Santa’s Favorite Toy Store” sign. Original fitted Styrofoam packaging. Original Department 56 box The hanging Topsy’s sign remains separately packaged, and the electrical cord also remains packaged as shown. I have not removed the building from its protective wrapping or assembled/displayed the piece in order to preserve its apparent new-old-stock condition. Because of this, the lighting has not been tested. Original outer box shows some shelf/storage wear from age, including edge/corner wear and light creasing. Please review all photos carefully for exact box condition. Excellent opportunity to add a very clean, apparently unused example to a Christmas in the City collection.

Department 56 Christmas in the City Series – The Art Institute of Chicago (#56.59222). A stunning, officially licensed piece from Department 56’s beloved Christmas in the City collection! This lighted facade recreates one of the greatest museums in the world, designed in the Classical Revival architectural style. The Art Institute of Chicago was originally built as part of the World’s Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s landing in America. Unique statues and plants adorn the front of the building, with the famous bronze lion sculptures at the entrance decorated with wreaths for the holidays – historical facts about the real building are printed on the reverse side. Introduced in May 2004, it was retired in December 2005. Condition: Never Unboxed, Mint Condition This piece has never been taken out of the box and is in mint, pristine condition. Since it has never been unboxed, the porcelain, statues, and light cord are all guaranteed unused and undamaged. Please see photos for exact box condition. Building measures approximately 8.3″ tall x 4.5″ wide x 14 long. Hand-painted porcelain, officially licensed by the Art Institute of Chicago.
