Part of the Art & Architecture sub-series. Upon it’s completion in 1908, The Singer Building once stood as the tallest building in the world at 47-stories. Designed by Earnest Flagg, it’s a wonderful example of the early Beaux-Arts architectural style. This New York skyscraper once located in Lower Manhattan, was demolished in 1968 for new development. Department 56’s rendition beautifully portrays the fine architectural details including the tower cupola, decorative carved stonework, and elegant doorways featuring clocks set to the iconic 5 to 6.
